The Blikst Saint Lucia eSIM runs on Digicel, the island's main carrier. You get 3G and 4G speeds, with reliable 4G across the northern belt around Castries, Gros Islet and Rodney Bay, and 4G down at Vieux Fort where Hewanorra International Airport sits. The west-coast route through Soufriere is well covered on 3G and 4G, which is plenty for maps, WhatsApp and weather checks while you travel.
Digicel covers the populated island well. Castries, Gros Islet, Rodney Bay and the northern resort belt all have reliable 4G, and Vieux Fort in the south gets 4G too. The west-coast route through Anse-la-Raye, Canaries and Soufriere is solid on 3G and 4G, with some thinning on the steeper jungle sections. Be honest with yourself about the interior: the Tet Paul trail, Gros Piton and Edmund Forest Reserve have signal at trailheads and villages but go offline under the canopy. The east coast around Dennery and Micoud works in settlements with inland gaps.
Right after you buy, you receive a confirmation email with your eSIM details, so delivery takes minutes. Install it at home on Wi-Fi by scanning the QR code provided. Activation is automatic on arrival: when you land at Hewanorra (UVF) or George F. L. Charles (SLU) and switch airplane mode off, the Blikst line should register on Digicel by itself. Turn off data roaming on your home line first. Arriving by yacht into Rodney Bay Marina or by ferry from Martinique works the same once a Saint Lucian tower picks up.
Most modern smartphones are fully compatible with Blikst eSIMs, though a few exceptions exist, so it is worth checking our detailed compatibility list to confirm your device works. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. On an iPhone you can check eSIM support under Settings, General, About, where you will see an EID number; on Android, look in your network or SIM settings. If those are present and your handset is unlocked, you are good to go.
It depends on your trip. A week-long resort stay in Rodney Bay leaning mostly on hotel Wi-Fi sits comfortably on 2 to 3 GB. A week split between a Rodney Bay hotel and a Soufriere eco-lodge, with catamaran trips and daily maps, wants 3 to 5 GB. Two-week trips that add day-hops to Martinique or Dominica should plan around 5 GB for the Saint Lucia portion. Remote workers basing here for a month should size 10 GB or higher.
Yes, tethering and hotspot are supported, so you can share your connection with a laptop or a travelling companion's phone. That is handy for catching up on work from a Rodney Bay balcony or getting a second device online during the 60 to 90 minute drive from Hewanorra up to the northern resorts. Just remember that hotspotting pulls from the same data allowance, so size your plan with a little headroom if you expect to tether often.
Blikst plans are data only, so you call and message over the internet rather than through a traditional phone line. In practice that is exactly how Saint Lucia works anyway: catamaran operators, snorkelling excursions, taxi drivers and villa hosts all communicate over WhatsApp, and you can use FaceTime or similar apps too. Because the eSIM is a separate digital line, your physical home SIM and number can stay in the phone, so people can still reach you on your usual number if you leave it switched on.
For most travellers, yes. US carriers typically charge around $10 per day for Saint Lucia roaming, and UK and European carriers often bill at similar or higher non-EU rates, so a Blikst eSIM for a week comes in well under that. Digicel and FLOW physical SIMs are sold at both airports, but they require passport registration and a counter stop, time most arriving travellers would rather spend on the drive north with maps already running.
