Description

The Middle East regional plan is genuinely useful — it covers Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Turkey, and the UAE on one profile, which is most of the big overland and multi-country routes travellers actually do. A Blikst Middle East eSIM runs on Orange (Egypt, Morocco), Pelephone (Israel), Zain (Jordan, Kuwait), Omantel / Oman Mobile (Oman), Turkcell / Avea (Turkey), and Du (UAE) at 3G / 4G / 5G speeds depending on the country.

Coverage across the region

UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah) and Qatar-adjacent routes have blanket 5G. Turkey's 4G / 5G covers Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, and Cappadocia well; the far eastern provinces thin out. Jordan's Zain reaches Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea resorts with 4G; the King's Highway and Desert Highway both hold signal most of the way. Egypt's Orange network covers Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea resorts (Sharm, Hurghada, Marsa Alam); the Sinai interior and the Western Desert oases have significant gaps. Morocco's Orange has strong 4G in Casablanca, Marrakech, Fès, Tangier, and Rabat, with 3G through most of the Atlas passes. Oman's network is fine along the coastal highway (Muscat–Nizwa–Salalah) and patchier in the Rub' al Khali interior. Kuwait City is fully 5G; outside the built-up area, the Kuwaiti desert is sparse. Israel's Pelephone has strong 4G across Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Eilat, and the West Bank highway network.

Border behaviour

The plan attaches to whichever of the supported carriers your device registers first. Crossing between Jordan and Israel at the Allenby / King Hussein Bridge, the eSIM hands off between Zain and Pelephone at the terminal. Egypt-to-Jordan via Taba / Aqaba activates Zain when you clear the Jordanian side. Morocco is geographically separate from the other plan countries; arrivals at Casablanca (CMN) or Marrakech (RAK) pick up Orange Morocco on arrival. The plan does not roam into Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, or Yemen — for those, country-specific plans apply.

Cost vs. single-country plans or roaming

If your trip is a clean single-country visit, a country-specific plan is usually a little cheaper. The regional eSIM earns its keep on multi-country itineraries — Israel-Jordan-Egypt overland, Turkey-UAE business hops, or the classic Egypt-Jordan-UAE sequence. Western-carrier roaming into this region typically sits in the $10–$15 per-day tier; the regional plan comes in well below a two-week stack of daily fees.

Arrival across the hub airports

Install the profile on home Wi-Fi before you fly. Hub airports — Dubai (DXB), Istanbul (IST), Cairo (CAI), Tel Aviv (TLV), Amman (AMM), Muscat (MCT), Casablanca (CMN) — all have strong network presence and the eSIM registers as you clear immigration. Land crossings activate on the first tower inside the new country. Sinai and southern Jordan crossings can take a few minutes longer because the local tower density is lower near the borders.

Local apps by country

  • UAE: Careem, Uber, Talabat, Deliveroo. Du's 5G is everywhere.
  • Turkey: BiTaksi, Yemeksepeti, Getir. Turkcell covers most of the country well.
  • Egypt: Uber, Careem, Talabat. WhatsApp for everything tour-related.
  • Jordan and Israel: Careem in Jordan; Gett and Yango in Israel. Both countries rely heavily on WhatsApp for driver and lodge coordination.
  • Morocco: inDrive and Careem in Casablanca and Marrakech; outside the big cities, pre-booked taxis are the norm.
  • Oman: Otaxi and Marhaba are the local apps. Coverage is thin for ride-hailing outside Muscat and Salalah.
  • Kuwait: Careem is dominant.

Plan sizing by trip length

A one-week single-country trip works on 5 GB. A two-week multi-country itinerary (e.g. Egypt-Jordan-Israel) wants 10 GB, particularly with ground-logistics coordination. Three-week regional tours that include Turkey or the UAE as a hub stopover fit 20 GB. Business travellers on month-long project rotations across the Gulf (UAE plus Kuwait and Oman site visits) benefit from 50 GB.

Install at home, land at any of the hub airports, and the eSIM attaches to whichever regional carrier sees your device first.

eSIM FAQ

An eSIM, or Embedded SIM, is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile plan without using a physical SIM card. It is built directly into your smartphone, smartwatch, or tablet and provides the same functionality as a physical SIM. With eSIM, switching between carriers or adding a secondary number becomes seamless and hassle-free.

Getting an eSIM is simple! Check if your device supports eSIM technology. Then, purchase an eSIM plan from your preferred carrier or from our website. After purchase, you’ll receive a QR code or activation details to set up the eSIM on your device in minutes.

Most modern smartphones, including the latest iPhones, Samsung Galaxy models, and Google Pixel devices, are eSIM compatible. Check your device settings under “Cellular” or “Mobile Data” to see if eSIM options are available. Alternatively, refer to your device’s specifications or contact us for guidance.

The number of eSIMs you can have depends on your device. For example, most iPhones allow multiple eSIM profiles but only one active eSIM at a time. Some Android devices support dual-active eSIMs, giving you more flexibility. Check your device’s specifications for details.

Activating an eSIM involves a few easy steps: 1. Purchase an eSIM plan from our website or your carrier. 2. Scan the provided QR code using your device’s camera or enter the activation code manually. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the eSIM profile to your device. Once activated, your eSIM is ready to use!

To activate an eSIM on iPhone: 1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan. 2. Scan the QR code from your eSIM provider or enter the activation details manually. 3. Choose your preferred settings for data, calls, and messaging, then tap Done. Your eSIM is now set up and ready to use.

Yes, eSIM offers several advantages over traditional SIM cards: Convenience: No physical SIM card required. Flexibility: Easily switch between carriers or plans. Space-saving: Frees up internal space in devices for additional features. Eco-friendly: Reduces plastic waste. Upgrade to eSIM and experience seamless connectivity like never before.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer your eSIM using the same QR code, as QR codes can only be scanned once for security reasons. If you wish to use your eSIM on a new device, you will need to contact your carrier to request a new activation code or QR code. Once issued, you can set up the eSIM on your new device following the standard activation process.
