I used to have 3 mobile but the internet connection was not the best, that’s why I started to use Blikst and I find it very useful
The Blikst Belgium eSIM runs on Orange (network provider: ORANGE), one of Belgium's main mobile operators. You get 4G and 5G speeds, with 5G covering central Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Leuven and Liege, and solid 4G everywhere else. Coverage stretches across all the major cities, the Eurostar and Thalys corridors, and into the Ardennes, so you stay connected as you move between cities by rail.
Orange's 5G covers central Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Leuven and Liege. 4G fills in everywhere else, including the coastal strip from De Panne to Knokke, the Ardennes around Dinant, Bastogne and La Roche-en-Ardenne, and the rail corridors. One honest weak spot: the tunnel under central Brussels between Schuman and Gare Centrale has had patchy mobile repeater coverage, so expect brief drops there. Border areas are covered, but the plan stays Belgium-only and won't roam into neighbouring countries.
Right after purchase you'll get a confirmation email with your eSIM details, so delivery takes just minutes. Install it over home Wi-Fi before you fly by scanning the QR code provided. Activation is automatic: the eSIM switches on when you arrive in Belgium. Land at Brussels Airport or Charleroi, turn off airplane mode at baggage claim, and the Orange line registers itself. Arriving by Eurostar, Thalys or ICE, it activates once the train picks up a Belgian tower.
Most modern smartphones are fully compatible with Blikst eSIMs, though a few exceptions exist, so check our detailed compatibility list to confirm your device works. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. On an iPhone you can check eSIM support under Settings, General, About and look for the EID number; on Android you'll find eSIM options in the network or SIM settings. If in doubt, confirm before you travel.
It depends on your trip. A three-day Brussels weekend is comfortable on 1 to 3 GB. A week covering Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp by rail suits about 5 GB. Two-week itineraries that include the Ardennes and coastal towns are better on 10 GB. Business travellers on EU-institution rounds for a month should plan for 20 GB once video calls factor in. Festival stays like Tomorrowland or Rock Werchter chew through data faster on crowded masts, so bump up a tier.
Yes, tethering and hotspot use are supported, so you can share your connection with a laptop, tablet or a travelling companion's phone. That's handy on the train between Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp, or back at the hotel. Just remember it draws from the same data allowance, so heavier hotspot use such as video calls or large downloads will get through your plan faster than browsing on a single device.
This is a data-only plan, so it doesn't come with a Belgian phone number for traditional calls or texts. In practice that's rarely a problem: you can call and message over the internet using apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime or Messenger wherever you have a connection. Because an eSIM is a separate digital line, your physical home SIM and number can stay in the phone, so friends and family can still reach you on your usual number.
It depends where you're travelling from. EU travellers with roam-like-home probably don't need this, so check your existing plan first. Non-EU visitors from the UK, US, Canada or Australia typically see around 10 to 12 dollars per day roaming in Belgium. A Blikst plan on Orange's 5G network runs a fraction of that over a week, and it skips the queue at a Proximus or Lyca shop at Midi, so you walk straight into your itinerary.
