Description

Anguilla is a small, flat, low-key British Overseas Territory in the northeastern Caribbean, reached almost always via Sint Maarten and a short ferry or charter flight. Shoal Bay East, Meads Bay, Rendezvous Bay — the beaches that bring people here are the entire point, and most visitors spend a week on sand without much else. It's also a country where US and UK roaming suddenly lands in the premium international tier. A Blikst Anguilla eSIM runs on Digicel with 3G / 4G coverage across The Valley, Sandy Ground, Shoal Bay, Meads Bay, and the main coastal corridors.

Where Digicel Anguilla's network reaches

The Valley (the capital), Sandy Ground, Island Harbour, Shoal Bay East, Meads Bay, Rendezvous Bay, and the full west-end resort strip all have 4G. The road network connecting them is covered. Scrub Island, Dog Island, and the other small uninhabited islets off the coast have no meaningful signal. Boat excursions to Prickly Pear Cays or Sandy Island will have patchy to no coverage. Anguilla is small enough (26 km long) that there's no real dead zone on land — just slower stretches.

Cost compared with roaming or a local SIM

US carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) bill Anguilla at $10–$12 per day in their international packages. UK carriers post-Brexit are similar. A week of standard roaming for a couple = $140+ in fees before you've ordered your first rum punch. Picking up a local SIM at the Flow or Digicel shop in The Valley is possible but requires a drive out from the resort strip — not ideal on day one of a beach week. A Blikst plan on the same Digicel network sits at a fraction of the roaming cost.

Arriving via AXA or by ferry from SXM

Install the eSIM over home Wi-Fi before you fly. Most travellers fly to Princess Juliana International in Sint Maarten (SXM) first, then take the 25-minute public ferry from Marigot or the Blowing Point ferry from the Dutch side — your Blikst Anguilla plan activates once you clear Blowing Point immigration and step onto Anguilla soil. Direct flights into Clayton J. Lloyd International (AXA) behave the same way — switch off airplane mode after customs and the Digicel line registers automatically.

What you'll actually use data for here

  • WhatsApp: Boat charters to Scilly Cay, Sandy Island, and Prickly Pear, restaurant reservations at Blanchards or Veya, snorkel-tour operators — all confirmed via WhatsApp. Assume it's your main channel.
  • Google Maps: Anguilla's roads are simple but beach access points aren't always well-marked. GPS finds Little Bay, Junk's Hole, and the less-obvious coves.
  • Taxi apps don't exist here: Uber, Lyft, Bolt — none operate in Anguilla. Licensed taxis are booked by phone or arranged through the hotel. Your contact book and WhatsApp handle it.
  • Weather apps and hurricane tracking: June–November is hurricane season, with heightened risk August–October. Windy, NOAA NHC, and local alerts matter during active systems. Anguilla was hit hard by Irma in 2017 — storm preparation is a real consideration.
  • Payment apps: Eastern Caribbean dollars (XCD) and USD both circulate. Apple Pay and Google Pay work at larger resorts; smaller beach bars are cash-friendly. Bank apps need data for transfers.

Ferry timing and the Sint Maarten connection

The Marigot–Blowing Point public ferry runs roughly every 30–45 minutes during daylight. Private charter boats to Anguilla operate outside those hours. Your Blikst Anguilla eSIM does not cover Sint Maarten — if you're spending time on both sides, you'd need a separate plan for SXM or just pick up the Anguilla plan for your Anguilla days. The ferry ride itself is usually in mobile-signal range of one island or the other.

Plan sizing for Anguilla trips

A day trip from SXM: 1 GB is more than enough. A long weekend at Shoal Bay: 1–3 GB. A week-long beach stay at Meads Bay or Rendezvous Bay (with resort Wi-Fi carrying streaming): 3–5 GB. Two-week family villa rentals: 10 GB. Digital nomads using Anguilla's Work from Anguilla program for 3–6 months: 50 GB or more, though villa Wi-Fi usually handles the bulk.

Install before you fly, clear Blowing Point with data already working, and skip the Flow storefront run. The first Shoal Bay snorkel and the first rum punch at Bankie Banx's Dune Preserve are better uses of the afternoon.

eSIM FAQ

An eSIM, or Embedded SIM, is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile plan without using a physical SIM card. It is built directly into your smartphone, smartwatch, or tablet and provides the same functionality as a physical SIM. With eSIM, switching between carriers or adding a secondary number becomes seamless and hassle-free.

Getting an eSIM is simple! Check if your device supports eSIM technology. Then, purchase an eSIM plan from your preferred carrier or from our website. After purchase, you’ll receive a QR code or activation details to set up the eSIM on your device in minutes.

Most modern smartphones, including the latest iPhones, Samsung Galaxy models, and Google Pixel devices, are eSIM compatible. Check your device settings under “Cellular” or “Mobile Data” to see if eSIM options are available. Alternatively, refer to your device’s specifications or contact us for guidance.

The number of eSIMs you can have depends on your device. For example, most iPhones allow multiple eSIM profiles but only one active eSIM at a time. Some Android devices support dual-active eSIMs, giving you more flexibility. Check your device’s specifications for details.

Activating an eSIM involves a few easy steps: 1. Purchase an eSIM plan from our website or your carrier. 2. Scan the provided QR code using your device’s camera or enter the activation code manually. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the eSIM profile to your device. Once activated, your eSIM is ready to use!

To activate an eSIM on iPhone: 1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan. 2. Scan the QR code from your eSIM provider or enter the activation details manually. 3. Choose your preferred settings for data, calls, and messaging, then tap Done. Your eSIM is now set up and ready to use.

Yes, eSIM offers several advantages over traditional SIM cards: Convenience: No physical SIM card required. Flexibility: Easily switch between carriers or plans. Space-saving: Frees up internal space in devices for additional features. Eco-friendly: Reduces plastic waste. Upgrade to eSIM and experience seamless connectivity like never before.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer your eSIM using the same QR code, as QR codes can only be scanned once for security reasons. If you wish to use your eSIM on a new device, you will need to contact your carrier to request a new activation code or QR code. Once issued, you can set up the eSIM on your new device following the standard activation process.
