Description

Poland is one of Europe's best-value city-break destinations and its mobile networks reflect that — 5G is widespread, prices for locals are low, but as a non-EU visitor you still get hit with roaming fees. A Blikst Poland eSIM runs on Orange Polska's 4G/5G network, which has dense coverage across Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań, Łódź, and down the A4 motorway to the Czech and Slovak borders. Orange has one of the largest 5G footprints in the country, particularly in major city centres and along the Pendolino rail corridor.

Where Orange Polska works best

Warsaw (the Old Town, Śródmieście, Praga), Kraków's Stare Miasto and Kazimierz, Gdańsk's Main Town and the Tri-City stretch to Sopot and Gdynia, Wrocław's Ostrów Tumski and Rynek, and Poznań's Stary Browar area all have full 5G. The Mazury Lakes region in the northeast has 4G at towns like Mikołajki and Giżycko; signal drops between lakes. The Tatra Mountains around Zakopane have 4G at the town centre and along the main hiking trailheads (Morskie Oko car park, Kasprowy cable car base) but thin out on ridgelines and in valleys. The Białowieża Forest is patchy by design — protected area with limited infrastructure.

Cost vs. EU roaming or local SIM

EU travellers with "roam like home" already have Poland included — check your contract. Non-EU visitors (US, UK post-Brexit, Canadian, Australian) typically pay $10–$12 per day for Poland roaming, which outruns a week-long Blikst plan fast. Local Play, Orange, T-Mobile PL and Plus SIMs are cheap (zł 25–50 for 30-day packages) but require ID registration at a shop or post office.

Arrival at Warsaw or Kraków

Install the profile at home over Wi-Fi. Land at Warsaw Chopin (WAW), Warsaw Modlin (WMI), Kraków Balice (KRK), Gdańsk (GDN), Wrocław (WRO), or Poznań (POZ), switch airplane mode off, and Orange picks up automatically. Warsaw Chopin has the SKM commuter train to the city centre; Kraków Balice has a direct train to Kraków Główny. Both airports have free Wi-Fi but don't need it once the eSIM is active.

Apps you'll use in Poland

  • Bolt, FREE NOW, and Uber — all three work across major Polish cities. Bolt is often cheapest in Warsaw and Kraków.
  • Koleo and IC Navigator — PKP Intercity and regional rail tickets. Pendolino Warsaw–Kraków–Gdańsk reservations fill up on weekends.
  • Jakdojade — the go-to public transit app for buses, trams and metro across all major Polish cities. Better than Google Maps for local transit.
  • BLIK — Poland's mobile payment system built into every Polish bank app. Most shops accept BLIK codes. As a visitor you'll rely more on contactless card, but knowing what it is helps.
  • Google Translate — Polish signage outside tourist areas is mostly Polish-only; camera mode is useful for menus.

Auschwitz, Wieliczka, and day trips

The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim is a 1.5-hour drive from Kraków and has signal at the visitor centre but phones should be on silent inside. The Wieliczka Salt Mine has no signal underground — expect zero bars for the 2–3 hour tour. Zakopane and the Tatras have 4G in town; the Morskie Oko lake trail has signal only at the trailhead.

Plan sizing

A 3-day Kraków weekend — 2 GB is plenty. A one-week Warsaw + Kraków + Gdańsk triangle — 5 GB. Two-week Poland loop including Wrocław, Mazury Lakes and Zakopane — 10 GB. Month-long digital nomad stay in Warsaw or Kraków — 20 GB or more.

Install before you fly, land at any major Polish airport, and get straight to the first pierogi stop without a detour to an Orange shop.

eSIM FAQ

An eSIM, or Embedded SIM, is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile plan without using a physical SIM card. It is built directly into your smartphone, smartwatch, or tablet and provides the same functionality as a physical SIM. With eSIM, switching between carriers or adding a secondary number becomes seamless and hassle-free.

Getting an eSIM is simple! Check if your device supports eSIM technology. Then, purchase an eSIM plan from your preferred carrier or from our website. After purchase, you’ll receive a QR code or activation details to set up the eSIM on your device in minutes.

Most modern smartphones, including the latest iPhones, Samsung Galaxy models, and Google Pixel devices, are eSIM compatible. Check your device settings under “Cellular” or “Mobile Data” to see if eSIM options are available. Alternatively, refer to your device’s specifications or contact us for guidance.

The number of eSIMs you can have depends on your device. For example, most iPhones allow multiple eSIM profiles but only one active eSIM at a time. Some Android devices support dual-active eSIMs, giving you more flexibility. Check your device’s specifications for details.

Activating an eSIM involves a few easy steps: 1. Purchase an eSIM plan from our website or your carrier. 2. Scan the provided QR code using your device’s camera or enter the activation code manually. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the eSIM profile to your device. Once activated, your eSIM is ready to use!

To activate an eSIM on iPhone: 1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan. 2. Scan the QR code from your eSIM provider or enter the activation details manually. 3. Choose your preferred settings for data, calls, and messaging, then tap Done. Your eSIM is now set up and ready to use.

Yes, eSIM offers several advantages over traditional SIM cards: Convenience: No physical SIM card required. Flexibility: Easily switch between carriers or plans. Space-saving: Frees up internal space in devices for additional features. Eco-friendly: Reduces plastic waste. Upgrade to eSIM and experience seamless connectivity like never before.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer your eSIM using the same QR code, as QR codes can only be scanned once for security reasons. If you wish to use your eSIM on a new device, you will need to contact your carrier to request a new activation code or QR code. Once issued, you can set up the eSIM on your new device following the standard activation process.
