The Blikst Luxembourg eSIM runs on Proximus, operating locally through the Proximus Luxembourg and Tango network infrastructure. You get 4G and 5G speeds across the Grand Duchy's cities, valleys and the Moselle wine region. It's a solid choice for a country this small and densely connected, keeping you online whether you're in the capital or out touring the countryside.
Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange and the Kirchberg banking district all get reliable 4G and 5G, and the Moselle corridor around Remich, Grevenmacher and Schengen is well covered. Be honest with your expectations up north: the Mullerthal hiking region and Echternach have town signal that thins in the sandstone canyons and forest trails, while Vianden, Clervaux and Wiltz can drop along small rural roads.
Right after purchase you'll get a confirmation email with your eSIM details, usually within minutes. Install it at home on Wi-Fi by scanning the QR code provided. Activation is automatic on arrival: when you land at Luxembourg Airport at Findel and switch airplane mode off, the Blikst profile registers on Proximus by itself. Arriving by TGV from Paris or by road from Trier, Metz or Brussels, it activates the moment you cross into the country.
Most modern smartphones work fully with Blikst eSIMs, though a few exceptions exist, so check our detailed compatibility list to confirm your device. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. To check eSIM support, look on iPhone under Settings, General, About for an EID number, or in your Android network settings. If you see an EID, you're almost certainly good to go.
It depends on your trip. A weekend in Luxembourg City fits in 2 GB easily. A week touring the Grand Duchy — city, the Mullerthal, Vianden, Clervaux and Moselle wine tasting — sits comfortably on 3 to 5 GB. A two-week business-plus-leisure trip, working from a hotel or co-working space on some days, is better on 10 GB. Basing in the city for a month points to 10 to 20 GB.
Yes, tethering and hotspot use are supported, so you can share your connection with a laptop or tablet — handy if you're working from a hotel or co-working space in Luxembourg City for a few days. With reliable 4G and 5G across the capital and Kirchberg, it makes a dependable backup connection for remote work or keeping a travelling companion online.
This is a data-only plan, so it doesn't include a local number for traditional calls or texts. In practice that's rarely a problem: you can call and message over the internet using apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime, which is what most travellers do anyway. Because the eSIM is a separate digital line, your physical home SIM stays in the phone, so your usual number remains reachable for anything important.
It depends on where you're from. Luxembourg is in the EU, so EU home plans with roam-like-home typically cover it — check your domestic bundle first. UK post-Brexit plans often bill £6 or more per day, and US and non-EU carriers charge around $10 per day; a Blikst plan for a week comes in comfortably below either. Physical Tango, POST or Orange SIMs are sold at the airport but require ID registration.
