The North America regional plan covers four places on a single profile: the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. It's built for the cross-border trips travellers actually take, like a Toronto-Buffalo-New York road trip, a Vancouver-Seattle crossing, or a San Diego-Tijuana-Cabo run. Note that it does not roam into Central America or the wider Caribbean beyond Puerto Rico, so for those you'll want a dedicated plan.
It runs on three carriers at 3G, 4G and 5G speeds, depending on where your device attaches. In the USA and Puerto Rico you're on T-Mobile, whose 5G now reaches all major metros and most interstates. In Canada you're on Rogers, with full 4G and 5G in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Halifax. In Mexico you're on Pegaso (Movistar / Telefonica Mexico), with strong 4G across the main cities and resort areas.
Yes. It's a single profile with one shared data pool, and it hands off between T-Mobile, Rogers and Pegaso automatically based on whichever network your phone registers on. Cross from the US into Canada at a major land border like the Peace Bridge or Blaine and the Rogers tower picks up within a kilometre. Cross into Mexico at San Ysidro, Nogales or El Paso and you move onto Pegaso. Arriving at SJU in Puerto Rico puts you on T-Mobile PR.
After you buy, you'll get a confirmation email with your eSIM details, usually within minutes. Install the profile while you're still on home Wi-Fi before you fly by scanning the QR code provided. Activation is automatic: the eSIM registers on whichever network sees your device first and switches on when you arrive in North America. So it attaches to T-Mobile at JFK or LAX, Rogers at YYZ or YVR, or Pegaso at MEX or CUN, with no manual setup needed.
Most modern smartphones work flawlessly with Blikst eSIMs, though a few exceptions exist, so it's worth checking our detailed compatibility list before you buy. Your handset also needs to be carrier-unlocked. To confirm eSIM support, on an iPhone go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID number; on Android, check the network or SIM settings. If you see an EID or an eSIM option, you're good to go.
It depends on your trip. A one-week US-only visit works comfortably on 5 GB. A two-week mixed itinerary, say NYC-Toronto-Montreal or LA-San Diego-Tijuana-Cabo, suits about 10 GB. A three-week cross-continent road trip fits 20 GB. If you're a digital nomad moving between Mexico City, Austin and Toronto for a month, go for 50 GB. Maps and navigation are usually the biggest drain when you're driving between cities daily.
Yes, tethering and hotspot use are supported, so you can share your connection with a laptop, tablet or a travelling companion's phone. This is handy for working from a cafe in Mexico City or keeping the family online on a long drive across the US or Canada. Just remember that hotspot use draws from the same shared data pool, so heavier sharing like video streaming will get through your allowance faster.
These are data plans, so they're built for mobile internet rather than a traditional phone line or local number. The easy way to call and message is over the internet using apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger or Zoom, which is exactly how most travellers stay in touch. WhatsApp in particular is universal in Mexico. Because the eSIM is a separate digital line, you can leave your physical home SIM in the phone and keep your usual number active for important texts.
