Sanft, einfach, funktioniert einfach.
The Blikst Bermuda eSIM runs on Digicel, with 3G and 4G coverage across the whole archipelago. You get 4G in the busier spots like Hamilton, St George's, the South Shore beaches and the Royal Naval Dockyard, while a few of the more remote stretches drop to 3G. It's the same Digicel network you'd use locally, so you skip the Verizon roaming charge and the L.F. Wade SIM desk entirely.
Coverage spans the full island chain, from St George's in the east to the Royal Naval Dockyard in the west. Hamilton, St George's, the South Shore beaches and the Dockyard all sit on 4G, and the causeway between St David's and the main island is covered. More remote stretches around Cooper's Island Nature Reserve and the inland trails can drop to 3G, but they stay usable for maps and messaging. Bermuda is small enough that there's no true dead zone, just slower sections.
Right after you buy, you'll get a confirmation email with your eSIM details, usually within minutes. Scan the QR code to install it over Wi-Fi before you fly, ideally the night before. Activation is automatic: when you land at L.F. Wade International, switch off airplane mode after clearing customs and the Digicel line registers itself. Cruise passengers arriving at the Dockyard or Hamilton terminals get the same automatic handoff once the ship docks.
Most modern smartphones work fully with Blikst eSIMs, though a few exceptions exist, so it's worth checking our detailed compatibility list to confirm your handset before you travel. As a quick check yourself, on iPhone go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID number; on Android, look in your network or SIM settings. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked for any travel eSIM to work.
It depends on your trip. A 3-day cruise stop is comfortable on 1 to 2 GB. A 5 to 7 day beach week out of Hamilton or Southampton suits about 3 to 5 GB. Two-week family visits or golf trips are better on around 10 GB. If you're a remote worker escaping a northeast winter for a month on a digital-nomad visa, plan for 20 GB or more, since home-office video calls add up fast.
Yes, tethering and hotspot are supported, so you can share your connection with a laptop or a travel companion's phone. That's handy in Bermuda, where port Wi-Fi at the cruise terminals is unreliable and your eSIM keeps app-based boarding passes and onboard credit tracking working between ship and shore. Speeds follow the Digicel network, so expect 4G in Hamilton and the main spots and 3G in the more remote stretches.
This is a data-only plan, so it doesn't give you a Bermudian phone number for regular calls or SMS. Instead, use internet-based apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime to call and message home over the data connection. WhatsApp is especially useful here, since dive shops, scooter rentals and tour operators default to it for confirmations. Because the eSIM is a separate digital line, your physical home SIM and number can stay in the phone.
Usually, yes. Most US carriers treat Bermuda as an international destination rather than part of the domestic plan, so Verizon TravelPass and AT&T International Day Pass run around $10 to $12 a day. On a 5-day cruise stop or beach week that's $50 to $60 before you've done anything. A Blikst plan on the same Digicel network costs a fraction of that, with no walk-in to Digicel's Church Street office and no proving a local address for a postpaid SIM.
